There will be a few tweaks to skibike lessons at Winter Park Resort this ski season.
In order to improve the guest experience, lessons will now be offered once per day. They will now start at 11:45 to give participants time to drop off family members at their lessons and still have time to get fitted for snowboard boots. Class ends at 2:45.
The first time lesson will include a full day all-access lift ticket, full day skibike rental, and the lesson. One must still pass all skills requirements to have the bike after the lesson. The lesson time is increasing to 3 hours instead of 2.5 hours.
Lessons are group lessons. Private lessons are available if one needs a different time schedule. Please call the Private Lesson Center to arrange your private and request a specific skibike instructor.
Full and half day Lenz Sport skibike rentals are still available. Reservations are highly recommended especially during busy holiday periods. As the sport has become more popular, bikes are quickly rented out. Reservations can be made online or by phone.

Rental Skibikes and Skibike Lessons Returning to Winter Park Resort in 2011-12
Don't get too excited with the news that the skibikes from the 2010-11 Winter Park Resort rental fleet are currently for sale. All that means is Lenz Sport is building a brand new fleet of skibikes for Winter Park Resort for the upcoming skibike season.
I was at Devin's house on Labor Day and the 2011-12 skibike fleet is under construction. Right now it consists of the smaller part construction, frames, and ski adapters. Plans for in-house ski construction are moving along too.
A few skibike manufacturers are not returning for the 2011-12 ski bike season. Lenz Sport peg ski bikes will still be available exclusively for rent and lessons at Winter Park Resort.
Ski resorts wanting to add skibikes to their current programs can contact Devin. As a former PSIA ski instructor and current skibike builder/instructor, he believes in safety and the Skier Responsibility Code.

Traditional 'foot ski' skibikes at Keystone Ski Resort
Traditional 'foot ski' ski bikes are a big part of the Colorado skibike scene. While some Colorado ski resorts limit them to after hours activities, others embrace them day and night.
In December of 2010 Vail Plum visited Keystone Ski Resort with Ramona Bruland and big mountain skier Chris Anthony.
While Chris was a first-time skibiker, he quickly picked it up and the group explored the ski resort.
'Foot ski' skibikes are very easy to learn and are the quickest way to get non-skiers out on the ski slopes. When asked which is easier - skiing or snowboarding? The answer is neither.
'Foot ski' skibiking is the easiest. Keystone Ski Resort offers skibike lessons and rentals during the day and under the lights at night.

Biskit teaches skibiking at Winter Park Resort in February 2011
Biskit took a few never-evers out on the Lenz Sport ski bikes in February 2011 on the slopes of Winter Park Resort. Winter Park Resort is the only ski resort that teaches and rents Lenz Sport ski bikes.

Skibike Resources
Do you need to find a skibike manufacturer, a used skibike dealer, or where you can skibike in Colorado? Information is available at a number of places. Since Google still has a hard time understanding 'skibike' or 'ski bike' finding meaningful results can be difficult.
Some great resources are:
Skibikes and skibiking
American Ski-Bike Association
SkiBike World
Snowbiker.net
With these resources you should be able to find out quite a bit about the Colorado skibiking scene and which ski resorts are skibiker friendly.
Many ski resorts in Colorado are winding down their seasons for 2010-11. Get your ski bikes out while you still can.
